How Much Is Telangana Government Spending On Bonalu?

Hyderabad: Bonalu festival which is celebrated in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad has always had a prime place among the people as well as government. Not only does it invite large numbers of politicians to pray before the goddess, it is considered as a state festival. In fact the government allots large sum of money for Bonalu celebrations.

This year Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 15 crores for Bonalu festival in city. The Endowments department has issued administrative sanction for Rs 15 crores towards meeting the expenditure of celebrations of this year's Bonalu.

The authority to draw and disburse the funds has been levied upon Hyderabad district collector. The collector will disburse the amount to temples or agencies or departments to conduct Bonalu celebrations. Those who have been allotted funds would have submit the utilisation certificates to Endowments department.

The Bonalu festivities will start in the city from July 15 at Golconda, then Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu will be on July 29 while the Old City would be celebrating the festival on August 5.
