Horrific most mishap

The tragic incident in which 15 people were charred to death in Nagaram village is the most horrific mishap in the history of Konaseema. 

Konaseema which is famous for pleasant environment and beautiful huts, has woken up on Friday to a massive explosion.

But many of them were unable to escape from the deathly fire coming in the form of 35 feet down below. A majority of the injured persons have suffered 90 percent burns. 

The villagers were in deep sleep and thus had little choice of escaping the flames. Since all the 15 victims were charred beyond recognition, an inordinate delay could happen while identifying the bodies. 

The scene at the spot of the accident is chaotic and emotional. Soon as news of the accident broke, scores of denizens rushed to the spot looking for their kith and kin. 

The explosion damaged more than 50 houses and shops near the blast site. The flames also damaged coconut trees and crops in a 10-acre area and the impact of the blast was such that a crater was created on the ground. (Tweets on GAIL gas pipeline explosion)

The villagers staged a protest at the GCS and vented their anger by damaging a few vehicles parked there saying that officials did not take requisite measures for their safety despite several complaints. The victims relatives alleged that their lives were endangered as the pipeline runs through the residential area. (YS Jagan to visit Nagaram on Saturday)

Doubts were also pouring in on the negligence of the officials. It is learnt that a similar type of leakage occurred at the same site two weeks back and GAIL authorities claimed that they had repaired the pipeline. 

Police officials say that lighting of a stove at a tea shop triggered the fire and a blast. 

The list of those injured is as follows:

1.Md.Tafi, 2. Tatikayala Rajyalakshmi, 3.O.Durga Devi, 4. O.Venkataratnam, 5.R.Suryanarayana, 6. B.Peddiraju, 7. B.Ratnakumari, 8.Pallalamma, 9.O.Madhusudhan, 10.Mohan Krishna, 11.Jyothsna Devi and 12.K.Chinna.

Two persons - Balaji and Gopireddy - died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
