Exit-Poll Results Predict Massive Win For BJP In Gujarat And Himachal 

With the Gujarat Assembly elections coming to an end Thursday evening, various media channels and survey agencies published their exit-poll results.

All seven major exit polls showed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was heading towards a big win in the Gujarat Assembly elections 2017. Today’s Chanakya, which had got the 2014 projection right, says the party will win two-third majority in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state.

In further bad news for the Congress, all seven exit polls predicted that the Congress will lose Himachal Pradesh. Most exit polls predicted more than 100 seats for the BJP in Gujarat, comfortably above the 92-seat majority mark in the 182-seat Assembly.

In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP is projected to win more than 50 seats, way above the majority mark of 35 in the 68-seat Assembly. Polling wrapped up in Gujarat at 5pm with the BJP and Congress bickering over the Model Code of Conduct and its alleged violation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s outside the polling booth in Ranip, Ahmedabad.

The Congress has accused the poll panel of being partial to the BJP, saying it shot off a notice to Rahul Gandhi yesterday but was silent on the PM.
