Green activists, politicians and those with social responsibility marked World Environment yesterday. Netizens shared their concern on social media calling upon people to show some care for Mother Earth and minimise damage to the environment. Politicians cutting across party lines were seen delivering speeches or tweeting about green initiatives of their respective governments. On the other hand, environmentalists were seen pleading to people to cut down carbon footprint, plant more trees, battle deforestation and ensure cleaner surroundings. On the one hand, there are people who wake up on a said day (Environment Day in this case), and on the other there are those who silently do their bit on a daily basis to ensure a better world for the future generations.

One such person is none other than the Leader of Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

It's public knowledge that the YSRCP Chief is occupied with his mass contact initiative, Praja Sankalpa Yatra, over the last six months. YS Jagan began his arduous walkathon on November 6, 2017 in Idupulapaya in Dr. YSR district. The YSRCP chief will cover the entire state of Andhra Pradesh, interacting with the masses and gaining an insight into their lives, before he concludes his Padayatra in Ichhapuram in Srikakulam. During the course of his walkathon, thousands of common citizens drawn from all walks of life have been interacting with YS Jagan and narrating their problems to him and he, in turn, lends a patient ear to them to understand their problems on a first hand basis.

While we have seen politicians visit villages by bus or cars, YS Jagan has chosen to walk on foot walk on foot and in the process he is reaching out to the suffering millions and also creating awareness on critical local environmental issues.. Similarly, each time his padayatra reaches a new milestone, the YSRCP president plants a sapling. Isn't that wonderful? That's not it! During the course of his padayatra, he has been highlighting environmental issues. Be it the digging of river beds for sand or even contamination of drinking water, YS Jagan has been highlighting the activities that are causing severe damage to the environment. The YSRCP chief believes that actions speak louder than words.

Yesterday, he called upon people to reaffirm their commitment to ensure better future for their future generations.
