34 Snake Bites Over 3 Years: Father Says “It’s Routine”.

Himachal Pradesh: Have you heard of anyonel who gets bitten by a snake as many as 34 times and is alive and kicking. Meet 18 years old Manisha from Sirmaur, Himachal pradesh. In the last three years, many snakes bitten her. The girl has a fascination for snakes.

" I was bitten by snakes for the past three years over 30 times. I got snake bite first time in my village. Last time, I was bitten by a white snake, whenever I see a snake I get enchanted and it bites me. There was a gap two years back when I did not get any snake bite. During my school hours, I was bitten by snake many times and sometimes I was bitten twice or thrice a day. Astrologers and priests here I am possessed by snake goddess," she said.

According to the records available with different medical centres and hospitals, she got bitten for the 34th time on the February 18 this year. The medical Superintendent of Dr. Y.S. Parmar Medical College and Hospital said that she was admitted with snake bite on February 18 in the hospital and now she is recovering and stable. "She was admitted here for snake bite. It seems to be a non-poisonous snake bite," said medical superintendent Dr. KK Prashar.

The girl's father says that snakebite cases have become a routine for her. "I have taken her to many temples and traditional doctors, but the snake bites are continuing," said Sumer Verma, the father of the girl.

"Due to the continuous snake bites, anti-bodies have developed in her body. This could be the reason she is able survive snake bites," said Dr Rohit of Himachal Pradesh forest department.
