YS Rajasekhara Reddy remembered on Rakhi - Sakshi Post

Women in the state remember the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on the occasion of Rakhi festival.

YSR as he was popularly known, had worked hard for the economic development and well being of women in the state.

Once while addressing a gathering of 2,00,000 women in a program, he had said: "I want to see smiles of all my sisters of the state."

His empathy towards women was expressed not merely in words, but also reflected in his deeds. It was YSR who has implemented schemes like Pension for widows and ‘Abhaya Hastam’ for the welfare of women in the state and for the upliftment of the  community.

The late minister has also set up many schemes aimed at empowerment of women — ‘Pavala vaddi’ is a case in point.
His schemes for women were well received by all the sections of the society. He promised to stand by the people, particularly the bereaved families and assisted them in all respects. But his ultimate demise has created a void in the lives of the women of Andhra Pradesh who have nowhere to look for help in times of crisis.

He would always address women with respect saying " Ammalara, Akkalara".  And today being Rakhi, the emotions ran high among all the beneficiaries of his good schemes. However, to indicate that he still stays in their hearts, many women in the state tied rakhi to Rajeshekhar’s photo and applied tilak on YSR’s forehead.

There's no section of women in the state who have not been benefited by at least one of the schemes initiated by YSR. He was a people's man,a caring brother to the women of Andhra man and would remain so forever.
