Who wins & who loses? Botsa-Kiran proxy war ends? - Sakshi Post

PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana gave up the cold war against Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy?

The reports over ‘dual posts’ that Botsa is relinquishing either of PCC chief post or the position of Minister and is given two months time to take a decision is ruled out in the Congress party circles.

If it is the case, why many leaders, who had dual posts are spared from AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s ‘dual posts’ rule, ask some senior Congress leaders. They also cite the example of Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is holding two posts—AICC general secretary as well as the Union health minister. So, it is evident that the news reports in a section of the press that Botsa is going to lose one post may be untrue, claim partymen.

Botsa is reportedly not happy with the position as PCC chief after a prolonged cold war with the Chief Minister. Both the leaders are at loggerheads for quite some time and they injected negative feelings one against the other in the minds of party senior leaders. Pressure mounted on Botsa after the party’s poor show in the by-elections. On the other hand, Kiran inched towards a better position in gaining confidence of the party High Command of late by showing results in cooperative and DCB chairman elections and also winning the recent no-confidence motion in Assembly. All the hurdles have been cleared for Kiran and he will continue as the Chief Minister till the next election.

Botsa is understood to be eyeing the Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 elections. He's making the atmosphere clear in order to execute his plan. His wife Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi, MP from Vizianagarm constituency reportedly wants her husband to be in Central politics. She has already prepared the ground for the same so Botsa can contest from the Vizianagaram Parliament seat if everything goes well, party sources from Vizianagaram say. Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi may contest either from Cheepurupalli or Nellimarla assembly segments. As a prelude to his plan, Botsa reportedly told AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad about his intention to quit the post of PCC chief. Some of his aides brought the ‘dual posts’ issue to the fore to divert the attention of the media, party circles observe.

Undoubtedly, the supporters of Botsa feel that Kiran is gaining upper hand and also secured enough grip on the party in New Delhi. Another major reason Botsa is relinquishing the party post is probably because taking the party into power for the third consecutive term is a herculean task. So he convinced the party senior leaders in Delhi to allow him to reach Parliament. Botsa strongly believes that he will win the election as MP if Ashok Gajapathy Raju, TDP leader, a strong leader from Vizianagaram confines himself to assembly in the next election. He is also confident that he will be given cabinet berth if he wins the election.

Botsa may quit the party post anytime before the local body polls or after is to be decided. The party high command is also planning to give PCC chief post for a Telangana leader who can able to lead the party to win in the 2014 elections. Thus, the party can gain some sympathy from people of Telangana.
