T-Cong MPs warned by High Command?
It's quite obvious what prompted the Centre to agree to an all-party meet to deliberate over the Telangana issue. It was that time of the year when the Parliament session was debating a crucial issue. And at the same time, the Telangana MPs staged a sit-in protest at the Parliament Bhavan demanding that the 'T' bill be passed during the winter session.
While TRS MPs conveniently gave the voting session a miss, another party couldn't afford to do that. Thus the High Command hinted at calling an all-party meet to solve the Telangana issue.
The MPs were naturally thrilled and agreed to vote in favour of Congress to allow FDI in retail. There after, the new home minister did keep up his word by announcing the date and venue for the much-anticipated all-party meet—December 28!
This move pacified the protesting MPs and raised hopes of a possible statehood for their region. However, their enthusiasm turned into suspicion when state affairs in-charge, Ghulam Nabi Azad declared that the meeting was only to take views from various parties in the state! This put off most of the pro-Telangana activists, who soon began to doubt the Congress' intentions.
That was the beginning of endless speculations and rumors. Just three days before the PCC executive meeting was to be held at Hyderabad, the MPs attacked the state government in general and targeted PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana in particular, demanding that a resolution on Telangana be passed at the meeting.
The executive meeting was a smooth sail except that MP Ponnam Prabhakar raising his voice pay homage for Telangana Martyrs at the conference. Even the pro-Telangana party workers' 'Jai Telangana' slogans didn't create much buzz.
Thus, the silence of T-Congress MPs has led to more speculation leaving people to wonder if the MPs had received strong warning from the High Command not to raise the issue considering it was an important meeting by the Congress party.
It may be recalled that the MPs claimed credit for the High Command announcing all-party meeting.
However, it is learnt that the MPs have made clear that if nothing positive emerges out of the all-party meeting, they may have to reconsider their loyalties.
The question is what will the Telangana MPs do after the meet? Will the Centre again pacify them or come out with a decision favoring the Telangana? Let's wait and watch!
