Singaporean PM to self-isolate after testing positive for Covid-19

Singapore, Dec 3 (IANS) Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong tested positive for Covid-19 for the first time on Tuesday and will self-isolate while working from home, he said on Facebook.

Wong said he woke up in the morning "with a bad sore throat", and later confirmed his infection, posting a photo of his test result, Xinhua news agency reported.

He said in a post he is "feeling fine overall"

Wong, 51, was sworn in as Singapore's fourth Prime Minister in May.

Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention.
