PV Sindhu Storms Into French Open Semifinals

PV Sindhu has entered the quarterfinals of the French Open badminton tournament. She won over Line Christophersen of Denmark.

With a straight-game win over Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan on Friday, India's double Olympic medalist P V Sindhu extended her outstanding run at the French Open badminton event, advancing to the women's singles quarterfinals. Sindhu seeded third, cruised to a 21-14 21-14 victory against eighth-seeded in 38 minutes, extending her 14-1 head-to-head record over the Thai.

Last week, the Hyderabadi player defeated Busanan at the Denmark Open. On late Thursday night, Sindhu, the reigning world champion, overcame Denmark's Line Christophersen, ranked 24th in the world, 21-19 21-9 to advance to the quarterfinals.

The next match is going to be between Sindhu and World Number 15, Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi. The match will be played on Saturday.

On the other hand, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty reached the quarterfinals in the men's doubles event.
