Pakistan Supreme Court Blast: Several Feared Dead, 12 Injured

Several people are feared dead and at least 12 have been injured following a blast in the cafeteria at the Pakistan Supreme Court.
While some reports claim that a cylinder in the basement of the court complex exploded, a few others attributed the blast to an air conditioner.
The blast, reported around 10.55 am local time, reverberated in the entire building, triggering panic and chaos. Security officials soon reached the Supreme Court and began evacuating people from the premises.
Islamabad police reportedly reached the site to take up rescue operations. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Islamabad police stated, “IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, along with DIG Security Muhammad Atiq Tahir and SSP Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan, visited the Supreme Court regarding its security perspective and other security arrangements.”
He confirmed that 12 people were injured. Further, the IG stated that condition of two individuals is critical.
Islamabad Inspector General Ali Nasir Rizvi stated that a gas cylinder explosion occurred in the Supreme Court at 10.55 am. However, local news outlets reported that the explosion has been linked to an AC and not an LPG cylinder. Reports also stated that several of the injured included maintenance staff working near and AC plant.Videos have been circulating on social media platforms, showing the impact of the blast.
