Muslims Break Fast For Iftar At Hindu Temple in Lucknow

In a wonderful display of communal harmony, the Mankameshwar temple in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh hosted an Iftar, for the Muslim brotherhood who are on fast during the holy month of Ramzan. Clerics from both Shia and Sunni sects attended the event at the same time. In very unique gesture, devotees also offered namaz at the ‘aarti sthal’
The iftar feast was organized under the first women head priest of the Mankameshwar temple, Mahant Divy Giri. “We should celebrate every festival with great zeal.” “By helping the ones on fast, people will earn ‘punya’. Everybody should also take part in it irrespective of their caste,” she said.

The Mankameshwar Temple, one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva, situated on the banks of Gomti River. It became the first temple ever to have hosted an Iftar in Lucknow. Devotees also offered namaz at the ‘aarti sthal’
This reminds of similar incident that happened a year ago when The Lekshmi Narasimha Murthy Vishnu Temple in Malappuram, Kerala, hosted an Iftar feast close to 400 muslims. It also included 100 persons from other communities as well.
