Heavy rains halt trains, passengers clueless

Trains on the South Central Lines have been halted following heavy rains. Heavy down pour in Warangal and Khammam districts on Tuesday forced South Central Railway to stop rail services to several places from Secundarabad station.

Many trains  were disrupted following inundation of a portion of the railway track at Maddivancha village near Gundrathimadugu railway station in Garla mandal.
Many trains had to be cancelled or stopped in the last minute without intimating the passengers. Passengers are in a fix as railway authorities have not made any alternate arrangements.
Passengers alleged that although the railway authorities had promised to return their reservation money in three days, they haven't received anything yet.
On the other hand, taking undue advantage of the situation, private bus operators have jacked up the travel fares.
Several low-lying areas in state are waterlogged, creating massive traffic snarls on highways and other major roads in the state.
Heavy rains also caused landslides in Warangal district. Owing to heavy downpour, traffic has been diverted to various places in Khammam and Warangal districts.
Trains bound for Secundearabad and Chennai have been detained in Warangal district as flood water from the Vuracheruvu pond submerged the railway track. Passengers plying between cities have been left high and dry.
