Dying Man Gets His Last Wish, Marries Fiancee in Hospital

Texas: In what could have been a teary Bollywood movie and a page out of Munnabhai MBBS, a woman companion for over two decades and wife for a short thirty six hours, bid farewell to her husband whom she had married to fulfill his last wish and honour their relationship.

33-year-old Raul Hinojosa and his wife Yvonne Lamas had been in a relationship since 2007 and engaged since 11 years. They would have been married long ago but for the untimely and unkind intervention of fate. Raul was diagnosed with cancer in 2012.

Having fathered a son with his fiancée Yvone and a loving step-father to her three daughters from a previous relationship, Raul dreamt of a fairy tale wedding for himself and Yvonne. This however seemed a distant dream now with his ailment until he was asked for a final wish.

Raul said said he had one, something he had wanted for the last 11 years. "I want to marry her," Raul muttered, writes the Amarillo Globe-News. "I want her to be mine."

Everyone including Raul’s family, friends and the hospital staff sprung into action and decided to throw the best possible wedding for Raul and Yvonne at the hospital.

Looking handsome in a suit Raul waited in his hospital bed as his beautiful bride dressed in white walked down the ward towards him. The hospital room burst into cheers as the chaplain pronounced them husband and wife. A weak by happy Raul reached out and kissed his bride. The wedding was streamed live by one of his friends.

Thirty-six hours later, having realized his dying wish Raul passed away.

His new wife and companion for decades will no doubt miss and mourn her husband; she can perhaps take solace in the fact that she not only took care of him but loved him and honoured their relationship by granting him his last wish.
