'Demanding Visakhapatnam as capital not proper'

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P.Narayana on Monday said that asking for Vizag to be made the capital of Andhra Pradesh was not proper.

Responding to demands that Visakhapatnam be made the capital as the city has an international airport, port, steel plant and others, he said it was not proper to ask for Vizag, which is in one corner of the state, to be made the capital. Minister's statement has proved a dampener for the protagonists of Vizag.

Commenting on the corruption in the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA), he said the government would take steps to curb corruption.

“We will use integrated software in all the municipalities and municipal corporations in the state. We will review the development once in every 15 days,” said the minister.

The state ministers Narayana and Ganta Srinivasa Rao conducted a review meeting with the officials of the Vizag Municipal Corporation and VUDA on Monday.
