Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy extended a helping hand to a cancer patient   - Sakshi Post

Visakhapatnam: Earlier this month, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy extended a helping hand to a cancer patient by assuring to bear the cost of the medical treatment. The patient's plight came to the notice of the Chief Minister while he was returning from his visit to Sharadha Peetam in Vishakapatnam on June 4th.

A young man and a woman held up a placard which read “please save our friend who is suffering from blood cancer”. Noticing the placard, YS Jagan immediately alerted the officials to stop the convoy and approached the duo, further listening to their troubles.

Informing that their friend Neeraj Kumar required a surgery which is to take place by the end of this month, they mentioned that the treatment would cost Rs 25 lakh.

The Chief Minister immediately directed District Collector Katamaneni Bhaskar to make arrangements for treatment at the earliest and ensure that all the needs of the patient were catered to.

On the orders of the CM, Neeraj Kumar is receiving the treatment. Already Rs 10 lakh has been paid by the government for medical treatment. CMO officials have made it clear to family and hospital that the government will provide the remaining cost for the treatment.

The officials are also constantly inquiring about the health condition of Neeraj.

Neeraj Kumar is gradually recovering and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Neeraj Kumar's father, Appala Naidu, told Sakshi that he is now consuming food directly from the mouth rather than through the tube. He further said that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has come to protect his son like a god and will be indebted to him for this life.
