AIIMS to be established in Guntur ?

The Government of Andhra Pradesh wants the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to be established in Guntur.

A proposal to this effect has already been sent to the Union Government.

Stating this in Lok Sabha, Union Health Minister Harshvardhan said the Government would try to establish AIIMS like institutions in every state.

However, 200 acres of land and Rs 1500 crore of investment are needed, he pointed.

Harsha Vardhan said that the state governments need to provide the necessary basic facilities for starting the institute.

“There is no fixed time period for establishing AIIMS in any state,” said the minister.
