14 Of Marriage Party Die As Mini Truck Turns Turtle

As many as 14 people died in the Etah road accident in Uttar Pradesh early Friday morning.

The incident occurred when a mini truck carrying over 40 passengers turned turtle and fell into a canal in Sarayneem on the Agra-Jalesar road while returning from a pre-wedding event. Ten persons died instantly while two dozen were injured. Four of the critical ones passed away during treatment at a district hospital in Agra.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the dependents of those killed and Rs 50,000 to those critically injured in the accident from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, (PMNRF). i.

Modi condoled the deaths and said: "My thoughts are with all those who lost their loved ones in the accident in Etah. May those injured in the accident recover quickly."

Police fear the death toll could rise.
