Hyderabad: In order to provide potable water available for poor people in the city at a nominal charge of Re 1, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is going to inaugurate drinking water centres at demanding places on Friday in Hyderabad.
As part of the project, the Water Board will inaugurate two drinking water vending centres in the slum areas near Indira Park and Karmika Nagar on Friday. The officials said the consumers have to insert a one rupee coin to draw one litre of potable water from the vending machines.
The Board has set a target of setting up of 200 drinking water centres throughout the city. The officials are planning to hand over the responsibility of maintaining the water centres to Self Help Groups (SHG) in the city.
