Over three-kg gold seized from Hyderabad airport

Hyderabad: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Thursday seized over 3 kilograms of gold, with an estimated value of Rs 1 crore in international market, from a man at the parking lot in Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here while he was allegedly trying to smuggle the yellow metal.

“One ground handling staff, who took delivery of the gold from a passenger who arrived by a flight from Dubai to the airport was intercepted by DRI officers at the parking lot and 26 gold bars weighing 3.03 kg was seized from his possession”, DRI Additional Director (Hyderabad Zone) General M K Singh told PTI.

Further investigations are on to trace the passenger and the ground handling staff is being questioned, he said.
