COVID-19: An Overview of Cities in India That Provide Drive-In Vaccination

The drive-in vaccination facility prevents big crowds from swarming vaccination centers.

Getting vaccinated is a ray of hope for all those facing the dangerous situation of contracting COVID-19 infection. With a population of 1.3 billion people, implementing vaccination campaigns is a massive undertaking for both state and national administrations. When a significant number of people go to vaccination centres, COVID protocols are broken, especially social distancing.

As a result of this situation, a drive-in vaccination facility has been established in a number of cities, where individuals may obtain the COVID-19 vaccination while sitting in their car. This delegated facility, which is located outside or in hospital parking lots, has reduced the infrastructure burden while also preventing congestion.

The following cities have already begun drive-in vaccination facility:

MUMBAI

The first drive-in vaccination centre in Maharashtra was established at Mumbai's Kohinoor public parking centre in Dadar West. This centre has a drive-in facility that can vaccinate up to 200 individuals each day. The Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been striving to establish a number of such centres around the city, in each zone.

GURUGRAM

Park+, a start-up that provides parking solutions in malls, took on the task of establishing drive-in vaccination facilities at three sites around Gurugram. Ambience Mall, DLF City Centre, and DLF Cyber Hub are among them. Citizens above the age of 45 will only be permitted if they have made prior appointments through the CoWin site.

NOIDA

A COVID vaccination drive-in facility has opened in Noida at two locations: DLF Mall of India and the Shaheed Pathik stadium in Greater Noida, for individuals aged 45 and up. The Park+ start-up was also responsible for this arrangement, and anyone interested in using it can register through the CoWIN site.

BHOPAL

To minimize overcrowding at vaccination centres, Bhopal's drive-in theatre has been transformed into a COVID-19 drive-in vaccination facility. The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Corporation established this centre at Hotel Lake Vie Ashoka when the phase 3 vaccination push for residents over the age of 18 began.

BHUBANESWAR

Four drive-in vaccination centres have been established by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). These clinics are for people over 45 who have not yet received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
