New Zealand Bans Entry Of Travellers From India Over COVID Cases Rise

 - Sakshi Post

In a slew of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus, New Zealand has announced a temporary ban on travellers coming from India and also its own citizens from April 11 to 28, due to a steep rise in COVID-19 cases. The Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern officially announced it on Thursday.

According to sources, the New Zealand Prime Minister made this move after the country recorded 23 new positive corona cases of which, 17 were from India. Anyone who had been in India in the past 14 days would be banned from entering New Zealand until April 28, said New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. She further said that she can understand that the temporary ban would affect New Zealand citizens residents currently living in India, but this move was a sense of responsibility and obligation to find ways to reduce risks that travellers are experiencing.

Earlier on Thursday India recorded 126,789 cases and 1,31,968 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.
