Father-son duo try to end lives due to social boycott

Casteism and social ostracism raised their ugly head in a Medak hamlet forcing a father-son duo, who were ostracised, to try to end their lives. This sensational incident occurred in Muttutpalli in Medak district.

In a shocking incident, the son tried to jump down from a cell tower, while father consumed liquor. Their sin? They defied the caste diktat and tried to sell toddy at cheaper prices.
For this, the family was excommunitated. Unable to bear the humiliation and ostracism, son Murali Goud climbed up cell tower, while father Narsa Goud consumed poison. He was rushed to the nearby hospital, where his condition is improving. He is stated to be out of danger. Later, Murali Gowd also came down on hearing his father's suicide bid.
The police said they would take action if there was a complaint by the aggrieved family.
