Srikakulam (AP): Police today busted a child trafficking racket and freed 18 minor kids who were being taken to Gujarat. 

One person, said to be middleman, was taken into custody. The minor children belonging to fishermen community were being taken Gujarat on the pretext of getting them jobs in construction sector and for other labour works, they said.
These kids hail from villages in Etcherla and Gara mandals, they said. Acting on a tip-off, local police intercepted the children near Amadalavalasa station with help of their Railway counterparts.
A man, alleged middleman who was accompanying the children, was taken into custody, they said. All 18 children were freed and later sent to a remand home, police added.
