Hyderabad: A 33-year-old advocate who had challenged the election of YSRCP legislator from Nandikotkuru in the High Court, was found dead in his house at Srininagar Colony on Friday.

Gumpula Ravi Kumar, a native of Kurnool district, contested as an independent candidate in the 2014 elections from Nandikotkur. He was also an advocate and got married to Mahalakshmi a year ago. The couple was staying in a rented flat at Subashnagar in Srinagar Colony.

As his wife was pregnant, she left for her maternal home ten days ago. Ravi Kumar was staying alone in the flat. On Friday evening, tenants of the neighboring flat found him lying unconscious in his house and alerted the police and his family members.

Police on investigation revealed that Ravi Kumar returned home after a party on Thursday and he did not leave his flat after that. They also found that his death was due to illness as he suffered a stroke in the past.

Ravi Kumar’s younger brother, Dinakar Raju, an assistant director in films, also told the police that his brother had been suffering from health problems for a few months. He told the police that Ravi Kumar had suffered a paralytic stroke in the past and had been unwell since then.

Ravi Kumar had lost the 2014 elections to YSRCP candidate Yakkaladevi Isaiah. After the elections he filed a petition against Isaiah stating that he produced false caste certificates and also complained that he had threat from Isaiah.
