80% of jewelers duping customers: Thakur

It may sound shocking and unbelievable for lakhs of gold consumers.

Metrology, weights and measures department chief RP Thakur said 80 per cent of gold and jewelry traders were duping their customers. The metrology department officials conducted raids on the gold shops on Wednesday in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Thakur said the jewelers were cheating the consumers with false measurements. Gold ornaments worth Rs 22 lakh were seized from a jewelry shop at Himayatnagar.
