20 'dented and painted' buses in Chandrababu's new fleet
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu flagged off 100 new buses of the APSRTC in Vijayawada on Monday coinciding with the Republic Day celebrations.
Many doubts are being expressed over lavish spending in the name of buying new buses.
Sources in the RTC say that these so called ‘new’ services are actually fully wornout buses that have only been repaired to be brought back into circulation. The passengers who traveled in these buses have become restless.
It is learnt that out of the 100 buses, 20 are said to be old buses that have been re-painted.
Taking a cue from Telangana government, the AP government had purchased new vehicles for the police by spending a whopping Rs 100 crore.
T-Government has recently purchased new buses and now, it is the turn of the AP government to do the same.
Many are in opinion that the cash-starved Andhra Pradesh can ill afford such spending.
The AP CM has said that plans were underway to add 700 more buses in February and March. Now, it remains to be seen whether the Government would resort to the same trick this time around too.
