Woman Attempts Suicide Demanding Marriage with Groom of Her Choice

Hyderabad: Demanding marriage with a groom of her choice, a woman from Dilsukhnagar attempted suicide by consuming an over-dose of sleeping pills in front of Banjara Hills police station on Wednesday night.

The woman met Vijaydeep, Manager of Yes Bank situated at Road No 12 in Banjara Hills through a matrimonial website. After dating for a while the duo decided to get married. Their families approved their match and on December 5 decided to get them married. The girl's family agreed to give Rs.10 lakh cash and a flat worth of Rs. 25 lakh as 'marriage gift' to the couple.

However, the groom gave a shock to the girl's family by calling off the wedding saying he didn't like the girl. The victim then lodged a complaint of cheating with Banjara Hills police and Vijaydeep has been arrested. He was subsequently released on bail.

However, on Wednesday she attempted suicide in front of the police station demanding that police should help her get married to Vijaydeep. The police said that they have counseled both the parties and sent them home. A case also has been registered against Vijaydeep, they said.
