Thousands witness celestial marriage at Bhadradri

The celestial marriage of Lord Srirama and Sita was performed with religious fervour and gaiety at Bhadrachalam in Khammam district on Friday.

Lord Srirama tied the wedding knot to Goddess Sita amidst Vedic hymns in the muhurtham of Abhijith lagnam.  Earlier, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy presented Pattu vastrams and talambralu (silk wedding cloths and pearls) on behalf of the state government.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Endowment Minister C Ramachandraiah and Social Welfare Minister Pithani Satyanarayana, Minister Ramreddy  Venkata Reddy and officials witnessed the celestial wedding. Temple priests performed "Talambralu" as part of celestial wedding to Lord Rama and Goddess Sita with pearls at Midhila Stadium. Garlands with pearls were adorned to the divine couple.   

Gifts from Tirumala Srivari temple 

Priests from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) presented gifts of Lord Sri Venkateswara to Lord Rama on the eve of celestial wedding. Priests headed by Seshadri brought Pattu vastrams and Talambralu (yellow-coloured rice) as per the age-old tradition. TTD Trust Board chairman Kanumuri Bapi Raju handed over the Pattu Vastrams and talambralu to the priests of Bhadradri. TTD EO L V Subrahmanyam and others were present on the occasion.    

Later, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy inaugurated drinking water supply scheme and a mini stadium during his visit.
