Theft in Tirumala Srivari hundi, one held

Tirumala: Police on Thursday arrested one person here for allegedly stealing Rs. 13,000 from Srivari Hundi, famous hundi in Tirumala, where devotees deposit their offering for Lord Sri Venkateshwara on the hills of Sheshachalam.

The accused, identified as Raghu from Bengeluru, allegedly stole from the Hundi on the guise of depositing cash.

The accused was identified following CCTV footage.

The temple authorities, who have been taken a back as the crime occurred despite tight security in the temple premises, have said that thief was able to reach the hundi as it had cash above its threshold level.
