Tensions rise in old-city as party supporters clash - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The police in Puranapul of the old-city saw tense moments on the day of GHMC elections, on Tuesday, when party rivalry turned into friction between the MIM and Congress party candidates.

The police arrested the MIM MLA Pasha Qadri and the Congress candidate Mohammed Ghouse. To protest the arrest of their candidate the PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy along with Shabbir Ali sat down in a dharna in front of the Mir Chowk police station. The police then released Ghouse.

However the tense situation quickly escalated into a squabble when MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi reached the spot around the same time. The supporters of both the parties soon got embroiled in a fight. Uttam Kumar Reddy’s car was damaged in the attack. The police soon resorted to lathicharge to disperse the agitators.
