'Ten people will join us if one leaves'

  “Ten persons will join our party if one member leaves us,” commented Union Minister for Rural Development and member of Group of Ministers on Telangana Jairam Ramesh.

He visited the Polavaram spillway on Tuesday.
 

Speaking to reporters, he said, “Union cabinet ministers Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Pallam Raju have tried their level best to ensure that the project gets ‘national status’.
 

The minister clarified that the project would be completed under the Government of India within next six years.
 

“Government of Andhra Pradesh agreed to give an amount of Rs.600 crores to the displaced persons from the states of Odisha and Chattisgarh,” said the minister.
 

The minister said that about 45,000 families should be shown the alternative arrangements under the project.

“We will take it granted that Telangana government has given all types of permissions for the project and the Government of India will ensure that all the permissions are given,” said the minister.

Several senior Congress leaders also accompanied the minister in his visit to the Polavaram project.
