Telangana pharmacists directed to re-register by April 30

Hyderabad: As many as 48,000 pharmacists in Telangana, who wish to continue to work in the state have been asked to re-register by April 30 with the newly formed Telangana State Pharmacy Registration Tribunal (TSPRT).

The new norm has been constituted so that the Telangana government can set up its own state pharmacy council. The new pharmacy council is said to be comprising of 15-members with elected and nominated members.

The three-member panel of TSPRT will look into the re-registration process of switch over of 48,000 pharmacists from the Andhra Pradesh Pharmacy Council (APPC).

Akun Sabharwal, Registrar of TSPRT said that pharmacist holding APPC registration who wish to continue to work in the state must re-register by going through the details posted on Telangana drug control administration website.

The re-registration process requires a submission of nominal fee of Rs10, photocopy of APPC registration certificate and a self-attested application form which needs to be submitted to the drug inspector's office withing their vicinity.

For smooth functioning of the process, the Telangana Pharmacists' Association would also set up help line desks and Hyderabad would be having two help line desks.

However, the new rule has brought crisis to over thousands of pharmacists in Hyderabad, who are running their store with rented pharmacy certificates which belongs to pharmacists in Andhra Pradesh.

Ch Parmatma, general Secretary of Telangana Pharmacists' Association said that,"The stores with Andhra-based certificate holders will be the worst hit as they may not be willing to re-register with TSPRT."
