Sultan Bazaar Traders agree on Metro Rail route - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Sultan Bazaar traders have finally agreed on the route of the Hyderabad Metro rail ending a long-time controversy over the issue. An agreement to this effect has been arrived at a meeting between the traders and Metro Rail officials, along with TS government functionaries held on Sunday.

Both the parties have agreed to keep the width of the road at 65ft at Sultan Bazaar – from Bata Showroom to Andhra Bank crossroads, instead of 100 ft as proposed in the master plan.
The officials have agreed for reducing the road width to 80ft in the roads connecting to Sultan bazaar, 80 percent of the traders, including property owners and hawkers have also agreed to it. “Metro Rail authorities have assured us if minimal property acquisition and demolition,” president of Sultan Bazaar Traders Joint Action Committee V. Kishen Yadav said.
Bowing to the trader’s demands, the authorities have also agreed to spare taking the Metro Rail piers into GHMC municipal complex and Sardar Patel Trust Bhavan in Sultan Bazaar area.
