Telangana Congress leaders who met in Hyderabad on Tuesday drew a conclusion to step up pressure on the Congress high command to decide its stand on Telangana.

The meeting, which was held at the Exhibition Grounds on Tuesday decided to hold a massive public meeting on June 30 at Nizam College Grounds in Hyderabad to voice their demand for Telangana. It also decided to write a letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi requesting her to take an early decision on Telangana, besides meeting all the senior leaders in New Delhi.

Minister for Panchayat Raj K Jana Reddy, who led the meeting exuded confidence that new in-charge for AP affairs Digvijay Singh would move a step forward for settling Telangana tangle. 

Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha observed that the high command should be clarified that they would not contest in the polls if a possible decision was not taken in favour of Telangana state. Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy made it clear that “we could not move towards the people, if the same trend continued till the elections and asked for concerted effort to express our view to the party high command.”

Minister Geeta Reddy said: “We are at the fag end in the formation of Telangana state and we should follow as per the majority people’s opinion.”

Minister for IT Ponnala Lakshmaiah said it would be difficult to win in the elections, unless there was a decision whatever it may be on Telangana. MP Madhu Yashki said Telangana tangle should be solved by Sonia Gandhi and it was better to approach her for finding a solution to the T problem. Former Minister Jeevan Reddy said people would trust Congress leaders only when we go to the people after all the ministers resigned to their positions.
