Professor Bhadriraju Krishnamurti passes away

Eminent linguist Bhadriraju Krishnamurti passed away at the age of 84  in Hyderabad today.

He was born in Ongole on 19 June 1928. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
His magnum opus ‘The Dravidian Languages’ is considered a landmark volume in the study of Dravidian linguistics.
He was the Vice-Chancellor of Hyderabad Central University from 1986 to 1993. He had been an executive member of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, 1990-2002. He was awarded an honourary doctorate in literature by Sri Venkateswara University in 1998, and by Dravidian University in 2007.He was the first recipient of the Telugu Bhaarati Award instituted by C.P.Brown Academy in 2008.
