Private colleges call off strike after state govt. assurance - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Joint Action Committee ( JAC) of private educational institutions has called off its strike over vigilance inspection and agreed to allow polytechnic common entrance examination on allocated centers to be held on Thursday.

The JAC representatives came to agreement after they had a meeting with deputy chief minster and education minister Kadiyam Srihari at his residence on Wednesday.

"We have withdrawn the strike after the government has released over Rs 3,100 crore towards fee reimbursement and also assured to look into the matter of harassment by police on the name of vigilance inspection," N Gautam Rao, Chairman of the Telanagna Engineering and Professional colleges' Management Association said.

The indefinite strike took place from Monday after the state government ordered for vigilance inspection over irregularities in scholarships and mess bills by the college managements.

Following this, the college managements threatened the government to boycott all the exams including Polycet, Eamcet and TET.
