Power generation halts at Simhadri III plant

Following a technical snag, power generation came to a halt in the third phase of Simhadri Thermal power plant in Visakhapatnam.

The sources said power generation of 500 mw was affected following the problem.  Efforts are on to revive the power production, sources added. As the State was under severe scarcity of power and intensive power cuts have been imposed across the state. If the power generation continued to affect for some more days, power cuts would also be increased, it is said.

The Simhadri power plant has four units each has a production capacity of 500 mw. The third unit gave trouble on Wednesday morning and it was expected to be rectified by tomorrow.
