PIL against Govt. financial aid to Smitha - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: A PIL was filed at the Hyderabad High Court questioning the Rs. 15 lakh financial aid extended to IAS officer Smitha Sabarwal by the Telangana government in the ‘Outlook magazine controversy’.

Hyderabad writer Vatsala Vidyasagar who filed the PIL said “using people’s money for bailing out Smitha is against the rules”
Chief Secretary of the state and Smitha Sabarwal were named as the defenders in the case.
Smitha Sabarwal had earlier filed a defamation case against the ‘Outlook’ magazine for publishing a cartoon portraying her in bad light and demanded Rs. 10 cropre compensation.
The PIL was filed as the government allegedly gave away Rs.10 lakh to Smitha and asked her to return the money if she wins the case against the magazine.
