'Our mistakes led to our defeat in elections'

Senior Congress leader and Karimnagar former MP Ponnam Prabhakar said that they were defeated in the recent elections only because of their mistakes.

Speaking to reporters in Nalgonda on Friday, he said, “I am thanking Nalgonda people for showing wisdom and electing Gutta Sukhendar Reddy for Parliament and some Congress leaders for Assembly.”

He said that AICC President Sonia Gandhi had given Telangana state as per the wish of Telangana people. “Telangana state would not have been a reality without the initiative of Sonia Gandhi,” said Prabhakar.

“It is not proper to say that Telangana state was formed only with the sacrifices of some persons and 14 year struggle of TRS president K.Chandrasekhar Rao. There are some other agitations too which also helped for the creation of the new state,” said the former MP.

He said that Congress party granted the new state honouring the promise it made to the people of Telangana.

“Our support will be there for TRS in the issue of Polavaram ordinance,” said Prabhakar.
