The hearing on this case has been posted for Monday.

The Banjara Hills police, who produced Obulesu in Nampally Court, sought his custody. The court, which took up the case, remanded Obulesu in custody.

Obulesu was nabbed within 12 hours of the KBR Park firing incident on the border between Kurnool and Anantapur districts on Wednesday night from a Bangalore-bound bus.

The constable, who was serving at Central Police Lines (CPL) Amberpet at the time of arrest, was earlier attached with Greyhounds, the elite anti-Maoist force and was allegedly involved in stealing AK-47. Interestingly, he was on casual leave since 15 days. It was a pre-planned kidnap attempt, police said.
As per reports, Obulesu has a record of threatening and extorting the morning walkers at KBR Park. In a recent incident, he kidnapped a high-level official by pointing the same AK 47. He also extorted Rs 10 lakhs from the official. He also threatened the officialthat he would kill him if tried to inform the police. A mortally terrified official did not lodge a police complaint.

On Wednesday moring, Obulesu forced his way into Pharma giant Aurobindo Pharma's vice-chairman Nityananda Reddy's car even as Reddy was getting into the car after finishing his morning walk on Wednesday. When Obulesu pointed a weapon to him, Reddy shouted for help and his brother Prasad Reddy chased him away. Faced with stiff resistance, the assailant fled the scene, leaving behind his weapon and a bag.
