No more political party meetings in HCU campus: High Court - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: In an interim order, the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the registrar of the Hyderabad Central University and the Cyberabad police commissioner not to allow any political party or association to hold a meeting on the university's campus.

HCU has been at the centre of controversy since the suicide of research scholar Rohith Vemula on January 17 and recently after resumption of duty by Vice Chancellor Appa Rao Podile.

Justice A Rama Lingswara Rao, in an interim order, directed the registrar and the police commissioner not to allow any political party or association to hold a meeting on the university premises and to give provocative speeches vitiating the academic atmosphere.

The order came on a petition filed by professor G Vinod Kumar, complaining that the HCU administration has failed to maintain a peaceful academic atmosphere on the campus. Political leaders are visiting the HCU campus for their own selfish motives, it said.
