Happy Birthday Ravi Shastri: Look At His Achievements As Indian Coach

Former cricketer and the head coach of India’s men’s team, Ravi Shastri, is celebrating his 59th birthday today(May 27). He was a member of the 1983 squad which lifted the ODI World Cup for India for the first time ever. The former all-rounder played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs between 1981 and 1992.

Shastri went on to play several roles in cricket after quitting international cricket at the age of 31 due to a major knee injury. His commentary is worldwide popular currently, he is coaching the Indian Men's team for the last four years.
Here are his achievements as a coach

1.In the extended format, Shastri stands out among all the head coaches. India won 28 of the 46 Tests it played under his leadership. The winning percentage is 60.87.
2. In one-day internationals, India in 91 matches, winning 57 of them for a winning percentage of 62.64.

3.Shastri is significantly responsible for India's comeback in the 2018-19 Border Gavaskar Trophy, as he instilled in the youthful players a never-say-die spirit. India had taken a 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series.
4.Shastri's coaching career reached a pinnacle when India won its first-ever Test series against Australia in Australia.
5.The one thing that was left under Shastri's leadership was reaching the ICC event finals. But that goal has been met, as the ‘Men in Blues' will face New Zealand's ‘Black Caps' in the inaugural World Test Championship final in Southampton, England, from June 18-22.
