November 10 Hyderabad Holiday: Schools and Govt Offices to Remain Shut for By-Poll
In advance of the by-election scheduled for November 11 in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills assembly constituency, the district administration has announced three paid holidays for government offices and educational institutions located in areas serving as polling stations and counting centres. The designated dates are:
- November 10: day before polling
- November 11: polling day
- November 14:counting day
The directive, issued by Hyderabad District Collector Harichandana Dasari, mandates that all heads of departments ensure compliance. The holiday applies specifically to offices, institutions and private establishments functioning as electoral venues for the by-poll.
The ordered closures aim to facilitate smooth electoral operations, ensure adequate staff-availability at polling and counting locations, and enable logistics and security agencies to manage resources without standard work-week constraints. Many teachers, office staff and institutional workers in these premises will be on election duty or involved in polling-related tasks during this period.
District officials have also reminded establishments to observe the ban on alcohol and food distribution near polling sites, as well as the restrictions imposed by the Election Commission of India for the event. Local residents and voters in the constituency have been urged to plan accordingly and utilise the holiday period for voter engagement and participation.
With the by-poll quickly approaching, the administrative move underscores the strategic importance of the Jubilee Hills seat and reflects efforts to ensure a disruption-free polling process through designated work-suspensions in key electoral zones.
