TDP has no moral right to speak about BCs: Here's why

 - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has always relied on backward class (BC) votes but never showed concern for the development of their community. While the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government embraced the community. Chief minister YS Jagan even dubbed the community as the backbone of society.

Criticising the TDP for its superficial concern for the backward class community, the BC Welfare Minister Chelluboina Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna said that the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is not comparable with the chief minister YS Jagan as the latter has ensured justice to the Backward Communities.

In response to TDP's plan to hold ‘Jayaho BC’ programme on January 4 to woo the BC voters, Chelluboina said the YSRCP government is working for the social empowerment of all sections of the society. He said that under the YS Jagan government, the BCs were politically empowered as the government gave 50 percent reservation to BCs in market committees and over 50 percent posts in different corporations.

It’s worth mentioning here that the BCs got more representation in the YS Jagan government than any other government. Chief minister YS Jagan provided 11 out of the 25 Cabinet posts, 4 out of 8 Rajya Sabha seats to BC candidates.

Chelluboina said that the Naidu government has taken the BCs for a ride. The TDP regime and its chief Naidu not only suppressed, openly humiliated the BCs but also failed to send a BC member from the party to Rajya Sabha.

He further said that the BCs community has realised that the TDP was only after their votes and hence the community has stopped voting to the opposition party en masse. The YSRCP minister also noted that it was the same TDP which had opposed the YS Jagan government;s decision to provide 34 percent reservation to the BCs in the local bodies elections.
