Mopidevi, Rayapati groups clash at DCC meet - Sakshi Post

Tension gripped the Guntur District Congress Committee (DCC) meeting on Sunday as two warring groups of MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana had a strong verbal dual.

Stampede like situation prevailed as the leaders pushed one another at the meeting leading chaos. The meeting witnessed heating exchanges between the groups of Rayapati and Mopidevi, who was in jail with regard to 26 controversial GOs in which the CBI had named six ministers.

It all began when Mopidevi’s brother Harnath took a dig at the senior Congress leaders for not initiating steps for the release of his brother Venkata Ramana. He questioned that though six ministers have been figured in the controversial GOs case, why his brother was alone arrested. He alleged that neither the Chief Minister nor the Cabinet members have bothered to make efforts to get his brother released. Why the other five ministers were let off and asked explanation from the senior leaders.

When some leaders tried to prevent Harnath for not making comments further, Mopidevi supporters came in support of Harnath leading to stampede. Heated exchanges took place between the leaders of Mopidevi and Rayapati. Mopidevi’s brother lashed out at the leaders for using his brother as scapegoat for just arresting YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
