Mass programmes allow to connect with people: CM

On his seventh district tour in two months, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy feels his mass conduct programmes allow him to understand people's problems first-hand and unite Congressmen across the state ahead of Assembly polls in 2014.

'Indiramma Batta is a three-day programme which takes the Chief Minister to almost every part of all districts in the state during which he interacts with farmers, women, students and even with party men sensitising them about the governments welfare measures. His tour of Krishna district, which began on Tuesday, is the seventh in the series and Kiran Reddy inspects programmes and implementation of the flagship programmes that have been launched by the Congress Government since 2004. The schemes which we implement are worth Rs 26,000 crore and 8 crore people benefit from them. The motto of the programme is to get a first-hand experience of their problems. I inspect programmes, interact with people and get their suggestions, he told PTI in an interview here. During the three-day tour, the Chief Minister tours rural areas of the district for the first two days, interacting with people, inspecting personally whether the welfare measures have reached intended beneficiaries and hold review meetings with officials at the district headquarters on the last day. Sitting in Hyderabad, I dont know what happens here. When I come here, I get a first-hand experience. I interact with farmers, students and all sections of the society and get to know their problems. Some solutions also come out of this tour, he said. Besides, he addresses at least one public meeting a day and holds interaction with party men from the district sensitising them about the welfare measures of the Government and how they can create awareness among the public.
