Pennsylvania: Two teenagers were killed on the spot while they were chatting on Facebook and one of them was driving the car in Pennsylvania, on Tuesday.

According to police investigations, Brooke Miranda Hughes (18) was using the live video chat facility on Facebook along with her co-passenger Chaniya Morrison-Toomey (19). Apparently, they did not pay heed to a tractor-trailer that was gaining ground on their vehicle from behind. Miranda Hughes was on Pennsylvania Interstate 380 just after midnight when she began live broadcasting the Facebook video while driving slowly in the right lane.

Chaniya Morrison-Toomey just had time to ask, “Are you going live?” when a light flashed inside the car and the sound of screeching tires was captured, according to a vernacular newspaper. Then the screen went black. The video preserved and broadcasted the last moments before a tractor-trailer ran into the back of the car, killing both teens. Police said, following the crash, fire erupted from the mangled car resulting in burning down the two teenagers.

Facebook had introduced the live video chatting facility in 2015. However, since then mange teenagers were reported to have misused the feature resulting in grievous injuries which were sometimes fatal.
