Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy laid foundations of developmental works worth Rs 183 crore, to improve roads and construct the National Institute of Urban Management (NIUM) building in the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The Chief Minister laid foundation for the NIUM building at Khanamet village of Serilingampally mandal, for which the state government allotted 20 acres of land, a release issued by the Chief Minister's Office said.
Around Rs 145 crores will be spent to set up various resource centres of this institute which will provide training on disaster management to all urban local bodies covering about 9000 staff, officials and elected representatives during 2013-14, the release said.

Reddy laid the foundation for a link road from Miyapur to Yellammabanda, being developed as a four-lane carriage way, at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore, besides also laying the foundation for widening a road from HUDA Colony, Chandanagar to Hafeezpet Flyover, an estimated cost of Rs 16.43 crore. He also laid the foundation to develop Mullakathuva Cheruvu, a lake and open area complex of 40.5 acres, at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore, the release said.
