KCR getting 'signals' on Telangana from Centre?
Is it one more deadline for the Central leaders? Is it bluster? Or is there an element of truth to what the TRS supremo, K. Chandrasekhara Rao has been saying?
This is a question being asked by many political leaders when the TRS president today expressed confidence that the separate Telangana issue will be decided this month.
He said that there need not be any doubts over a separate Telangana this month. But the doubt is not so much about the separate state, as it is about the confidence he exudes this time around. It's not the first time that KCR made such pronouncements. It may not be his last yet.
Last month, he announced that he had got signals and assurances over the formation of separate Telangana from the Central leaders in Delhi. He had also said the Telangana agitation would be intensified once again if the Centre went back on its promise. The ruling Congress MPs from the region, however, maintained that they did not receive any such indications, but vowed to continue their efforts for achieving separate state.
Many political leaders and analysts see his statements as the sort of bluster that he has come to be associated with on the subject of a separate state for the Telangana region. While KCR seeks to position himself as the sole champion of the Telangana cause, the Congress does not wish to grant him that status. Meanwhile, the CPI and BJP have also drawn a lot of media attention with their support for Telangana gaining momentum. BJP leaders held a three-day fast during the last three days in Delhi, while the CPI undertook a 'yatra' in Telangana region recently.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj wondered as to where KCR got his 'signals' from and added that she was not privy to any such information on the subject.
According to KCR, that there are chances of talks over the contentious issue during his stay in Delhi.
